I don't see why that would be true.  Benadryl is just an antihistamine... and antihistamines in general are incredibly safe, even at high doses over long periods of time.  That's true for both the H1 and H2s.  Personally, all of my liver enzymes are quite low, which tells me that my liver is nice and happy.  Also, anaphylaxis is much harder on your internal organs than antihistamines.  IMO, there are much better reasons to take them than not to take them.
