Malabsorbtion of fats?
01/24/13 at 13:25:16

I did the Metametrix complete GI profile test that was suggested by Dr. Tim Jackson when we did our MTHFR phone consult. Well, he says it came back that I am not producing bile and have fat malabsorbtion issues. He wanted me to start Oxbile, a supplement by Allergy Research, but I am going to look at the test with my Integrative/Naturopathic dr. at home before I do anything, as the numbers on the test aren't out of range...just high normal....I have a pre-cancerous cyst in my pancreas, and alot of inflammation in my ilieum, and colon and stomach on top of MCAS. Is fat malabsorbtion common with MCAS? What supplements are others taking for it? I don't have any real symptoms of it, so I'm confused. Thanks for any feedback! Debbie

It's common for me, and gets worse when I eat trigger foods/supplements.   ARG Ox Bile did not work for me.  It triggered me very badly.   However, a company called Enzymedica makes a variety of digestive enzymes that really help me.   The two I use the most are:  Digest Gold, and ...LypoGold (I think).

BUT, I cannot take "too much" of even either of these, or I will get triggered.   Just one capsule per meal.   But it really does help a lot.

Best,
Todd in Tenn.

I use bromelain and prefer either Blue Bonnet, Country Life or NOW brands.  They're between 2000-2400 gdu in a 500 mg. capsule.  It's best taken before a meal, but I also take it during or after.  I'd check with your doctor to make sure it won't interact with whatever else you take, if you decide to try it.  It's made all the difference in the world for me.  I used to have indigestion after almost any protein/fat in a meal.  Now it's rare.  I also use probiotics as well as l-glutamine, and I think that helps.  Some people can't take it, because of the salicylates, but turmeric has been good for inflammation.

Have you seen a specialist about the cyst?
