Doctors in the Mid west

I live in Tulsa. I have an allergists that is pretty up on MCD, but would like another opinion. What about MD Anderson in Houston? or Chicago? Both easy flights.
Thanks
Jen

Hi. I am in Indianapolis and have not found any specialists in the Midwest. If it were me, I would just fly to Boston and get an opinion from the main specialists. I was lucky to travel to see Dr. Cem Akin when he was in Michigan, but he has now moved to Boston. If I needed more help, I wouldn't hesitate to travel across the country to get it. The right info and assistance can turn your whole life around. It did mine!

Hi Jen,

Since you said you had a positive test for too many mast cells in your digestive system, I would consider starting with Dr. Philip Miner, a GI doctor in Oklahoma City and a mast cell disorder specialist.  He's one of several pioneers in diagnosing and treating digestive mast cell proliferation.  Dr. Miner's website is:  http://www.ofdr.org/

I haven't seen him personally, but my GI doctor knows him and would recommend him, as they both are working on mast cell problems in the GI tract.

Here's a link to one of Dr. Miner's articles:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14680622

If he can't help you, then I'd definitely go to Boston to see Dr. Akin or Dr. Castells.  Good Luck!

Jen, I'm with everyone! I personally really want to see Dr Miner, Joan was talking about, gut issues are huge with me and he spoke at the last conference and I absolutely loved him my then runner up is of course Dr Akin!! Or Dr Castells also. For me Miner and the Gut are good, travel is a nightmare for me so my hopes are pinned on Dr Miner. If you have no gut issues go to Boston. I'd choose boston over MD anderson. I could be wrong but I believe MD Anderson only treats aggressive masto.
