VTmom,

I was just prescribed Montelukast yesterday by my doctor for the breathing problems that I have been having. I too have had most of my reactions when taking meds. Benedryl, Claritin, anti-biotics....and the list goes on. I took my first dose last night since it causes drowsiness, and within twenty minutes, the tightness in my chest eased up a little. It didn't go away, but it became tolerable enough for me to sleep. I am hopefull that as it builds in my system, the tightness in my chest goes away, but if not, I have a back-up prescription of Hydroxyzine for when the Zyrtec and Montelukast doesn't releive the symptoms of my attacks. Hope that helps your decision!
