Masto & Eosiniphils?

Is it common to have Eosiniphils in your biopsy along with a Masto diagnosis? I have Mast cells all over my GI tract and in addition have a high eosiniphil count in my small intestine.

Hi Jennifer,

I have Eosinophilic Esophagitis and a Mast Cell Disease, and my GI doctor at the Mayo Clinic told me that where there are eosinophils, there will be mast cells. I'm not sure if the opposite is true, but I just wanted to share that with you.  He didn't biopsy for mast cells when they did all of my endoscopies, because he knew they would be there with the eosinophils.  Hope this helps a little--Sarah

MCs recruit other inflammatory cells like eosinophils and basophils etc.   Ask Jellybean about it , she is our resident immunologist (non doctor)

Yes I know that. Just didn't know that eosinophils would not be present on their own.  Though they might be able to go rouge or something.  My Doc took the time to explain everything but its a lot to absorb so when I come across info like this it suddenly comes flooding back.
