New: Medicate before testing and which tests??
08/18/12 at 19:13:16

I want to start the h1 and h2 blocker protocol and have zyrtec and claritin as well as pepsid here. I have cyp450 pathway issues that I am concerned about with other propton pump inhibitors but one of my mds has said that zantac is close to pepcid in how it blocks. It doesn't work as broadly as the other PPIs.

My problem is getting testing. My GP wont. My Environmental Md seems disinterested.. I may push. I am seeing a dysautonomia specialist in a few weeks and can ask..

What tests do I ask for?

Thank you!

Robin

Hi Robin,

I hope you found the answer to your questions, as it appears no one replied to this post.  There is a lot of information on this forum about testing.  Starflower has posted a sort of flow chart of tests to rule in or out mast cell diseases.

PPIs are a different type of medicine than H2 histamine blockers such as Pepcid and Zantac.  Those two attach to the H2 histamine receptors, thus blocking histamine from attaching.  They don't affect stomach emptying, but they also limit stomach acid by blocking histamine.

If you don't mind posting it, where do you live?  It sounds as though you should definitely see a mast cell specialist.  99.9 percent of doctors won't know what to do with someone who has your symptoms, but a MC specialist will know how to rule in or out a MC disorder.
