I'm confused - tryptase tests
07/12/12 at 10:43:47

I've had 3 tryptase tests.  4.8, 4.4, and 4.2 in that order.
The 4.2 was taken right as I was beginning an anaphylactic episode.
I thought that it was suppose to go up during an attack.
I hate this!!  Doing a upper GI and colonoscopy next to see if
there are an abundance of mast cells in that region since that
is where my episodes take place.  Skipping stage 1 and 2 anaphylactic and going straight to stage 3 is not fun at all.
That last 4.2 really makes me feel like its all in my head.

I had this happen too!!

It takes a FULL HOUR before any tryptase enters the blood stream and then you must draw the blood before the 3RD HOUR has passed or itīs too late!   The window is VERY SHORT so you must catch it at about 1 1/2 hours later.

This is information I received from DR. CASTELLS!  I wrote to her asking why my reading came back .1ng when my baseline was 4.2 and i was JUST AS FRUSTRATED as you are!!!

Sorry, this has been mentioned in other places here on the site.    I guess we should make a thread as to hows and whys with each test!     Just never got around to it!  sorry!
