Does Gastrocrom worsen glutamate sensitivity?
03/23/12 at 16:57:22

Glutamate (occurs naturally higher in overcooked food) can trigger histamine release.  Irregardless of glutamate's histamine release, natural excess gluamates and MSG can cause headaches, palpitations, bowels problems, etc.  I feel more sensitive since being on gastrocrom
to food the longer I cook it, with glutamate symptoms and histamine release from the gluamates foods.  Maybe it is a coincidence?  My intestines are gurgling a lot, especially from
something if I cook it too long.  Maybe all these side effects will go away?  Does anyone know exactly why gastrocrom can cause intestinal disturbances?  Does this side effect go away?  I hope this medication will work out. I have been on it  a month and two weeks, but started out slow, and just recently am taking 6 vials a day.

I really hope it does not increase the effects of glutamate. I can't find any  data on this.

Ruby,
I read your post with interest.  Not sure if this is helpful, but an allergist prescribed gastrocrom after I went into anaphylaxis for the first time.  I was at a conference at the time.  The hotel chefs gave me a detailed list of ingredients in everything I ate in the previous 24 hours and my allergist deduced that MSG triggered it.  I traveled alot at the time, and I reacted very little while at home, when I could control my food ingredients, but reacted everytime I traveled or ate out.  He gave me the gastrocrom, which did allow me to travel with far fewer reactions.  I took 2 vials 30 minutes before each meal.

Good luck figuring this out.

Ruby,
I have been on gastrom for 4 weeks, it has made me feel so much better overall, however I ate out today and tried to avoid my known triggers and ended up with some major intestinal issues..horrible cramps, diareahha, more cramps more diareahha it went on and on.  I finally had to go to bed because I felt so wiped out.  Slept 2 hours. My stomach still feels "edgy" like if I eat the wrong thing it will happen all over.  I guess gastrom does help but it will not cure us completely.  My advice would be trial and error.  I learned by error!! Cheesy
