Soy sauce sub

When going gluten free, you probably don't know that most soy sauces contain gluten. Well thats okay because there is many g-free soy sauces like Braggs, Tamari is wheat free. But what if you can't have have soy either? Whats a girl to do when your craving sushi? Mok soy sauce. Lol! Its not exactly the same but pretty dang close. Here is the recipe which I can't take credit for. Copied and pasted it from celiac.com

*I recommend using MSG free broth

SOY SAUCE SUB

2 cups beef broth

2 tsp cider vinegar
1 tsp molasses
1/8 tsp ground ginger
dash of pepper/onion powder/garlic powder

Combine all in saucepan. Boil until reduced to 1/2 cup. Store in fridge

Due to the use of beef broth, I would either use that up immediately or freeze it in an ice cube tray and defrost the cubes as needed.  You don't want it to build up a lot of histamine.

Good idea! Didn't think of that. I make my own beef broth now from soup bones. It's so easy and way cheaper than buying the canned stuff. Everything seems to have MSG! So I almost always have fresh beef broth in my fridge, but now I think I will freeze it right away.

I cant have soy sauce anymore but its because it is a fermented product. They use vinegar to make it and let it ferment, like alcohol. That alone is enough for me to avoid. Just to let you know Smiley

Hi Smiley

They also add caramel colouring , which bother me if they are sulphite based ( 2 out of 4 ) .

for a soy sauce sub, we use "Coconut Secret" brand " coconut aminos. No gluten, no soy. (I think are also low histamines? ).

I also make a stir-fry sauce with it by adding garlic, ginger, ketchup, honey, and coconut vinegar.
