we have not talked lately because I am on ALERT!!.....here where I live seems there is always some kind of ALERT that we must be prepared for...wind alert...burn alert...winter alert...polar vortex alert(never heard of this one)...then we have fog alert..we have amber alert and we all know what that one is..and silver alert this one tells us one of us oldies is lost..heat advisory though not lately..clipper alert that we just finished...and I am sure that if I wanted to really tax the old brain there are others..it sure has kept me busy...
BUT....
since I have not been feeling real shinny...son has driven me to my errands and I hate that even though he is very patient and willing
BUT
yesterday I decided unless the snow was falling I was going to go on my own for a couple of errands..FIRST GET A HAIRCUT...since not feeling well plus the weather WOW my hair is longer than it has been in I don't know when...also to the library
AND...
myself and I needed to have some serious discussion...I know some of you folks think that people talking to themselves is just not right and you giggle or just laugh right out loud...but you are WRONG!! important decisions are made with the help of myself...
now there was three important things I needed to talk about...

first...we talked about getting a dust mop...maybe an o'cedar dust mop..I am so tired of that little thingy stick with the little dingy on the end that is suppose to do the job...well let me tell you ...if you remember the little saying...O'cedar makes your life easier..myself and I decided that we will be shopping for one shortly

the next subject we needed to discuss was...why do people have "cowlicks" in their hair and why is there more hair on one side of your head...and why I am lucky enough to have 2 "cowlicks"..if you do not know about "cowlicks" are ask your beautician...so that subject was left unresolved..

then we talked about the fact and made the decision that I would never ride a ferris wheel...small, medium or large...we were totally in agreement that would never happen...done deal..

so as you see talking to yourself as some folks call it....is very important..this morning myself is trying to tell I that dusting might be nice but I is telling myself that ....remember that bag of books that you picked up yesterday from the library..that one on top looks really good...

now my library visit was a little sad..one of my favorite people had lost her dog of many years so we had to talk about that a little...and the visit to the beauty shop filled my ears with some needed gossip...so my trip was a complete success..
oh oh oh...wind alert..hear the wind chimes ringing...another alert day

wellllll what can I say...at my house we have been having winter..like winter...with snow and wind chills...son keeps saying...mom it is winter...and the weatherman...bless his little heart says...coldest weather in years and even if I agree with him...I want to say...please keep you opinions to yourself..now I know that some of you have had it really worst than I ...and I keep saying to myself...I am thankful for house, warm and food..
so...
I have been following all the suggested things they say...layer clothes..one, two, three..guess that should do it..heavy socks for feet and the really fuzzy house shoes...hanky for dripping nose...
now having done all the above I now must try to fill my day with something and of course I turn to my reading...
now I am reading this book and it says....they rub vicks vapor rub on race horses noses...well of course this caught my attention as you know that I am a vicks fan..
so...
of course I go to the net to see if I can find out if this is true...hummm type in use of vicks and the following comes up...I am sure that there is somewhere in life you will need this knowledge..

1..is one that my mom used my growing up life..rub on chest and throat for cough and congestion..course she added the wrapping of the neck with some kind of cloth..
2.night time relief..rub your feet with lots of vicks and put on socks for cough relief and you will wake up with a wonderful morning..
3...achy muscles..rub over those achy ones..but please warn all around you that you smell pretty ...stinky
4....get rid of nail fungus..yes it says so right here..rub your nails with vicks.. course my doctor says that you can spend thousands of dollars on remedies but none of them work ...she told me her secret and recommendation..
5.rub vicks on any hard surface that your cat likes to scratch on..that will stop that as they hate the smell
6..use for potty train for your animals..set a jar where they like to go indoors ..
7...headaches..rub a little on the temple area..gone
8...in your vapor humidifier..and you can have smell everywhere
9..I am not sure about this one..rub on small cuts like paper cuts..humm I always thought you might use a ointment with antibodies on this
10.ticks and bugs do not like the smell either..
11.HERE IT IS...THE BIG ONE...professional racers smooth vicks on their horses nose...as it does not let them smell the ladies that might be racing as well..
12..wards off mosquitoes..gosh are you saying don't buy that high price bug off stuff..just a jar of the good old vicks will do the trick..

well that is what I found...and I would have to credit someone else for these ...but I have to say..that someone else likes vicks vapor rub..just like me..

Hi good to talk to you again...
some of you have had really bad weather and here it has been colder than in three years..a little snow.. but yesterday the sun came out and the old temp started up so son said.... mom let us go and do our errands today...and since I am always up for a trip to the library...sure says I...

now let me set the scene for this trip....
just so you know I cook one meal a day...lunch and the rest you are on your own..and so usually at night I am thinking...what can I fix for lunch tomorrow..you see just son and I and I hate to cook anyway...so I am thinking...BINGO!! we will have biscuits and gravy and some sausage...that will be easy and quick and while we are out I will pick up needed supplies for this meal..especially biscuits and sausage

now just in case you have not read or followed my battle with making biscuits...just so you know I have tried every secret recipe sent to me to make biscuits..my mother made wonderful biscuits..and I sat and watched daughter make biscuits and came home and used the same exact bowl, fork for mixing etc...didn't work so in my great wisdom of 80 years I decided that for me since I could not even make them from a bakery mix...for me it would be canned biscuits...
are we clear on that????

so in I go to my Homeland Grocery store...and get the needed stuff...canned biscuits, sausage and a few other little things...and home..now lunch time came and biscuits in oven...gravy made..sausage in little patties....and I looked in the oven to see how the biscuits were coming along.............................
I could not believe my eyes...these canned biscuits are flat like in flat..like in really flat..NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this cannot be happening....
so
they are done...and I take them out...I show son...I am upset..upset...UPSET....as I ate my gravy and sausage...I said lots and lots of $#*&^% words...
so....
I decided right then and there I was calling the biscuit company..yes I was..so I dig out the can with label and exp date...and I called...had to leave a message for a call back and I say ...
please call me with a message giving me your address so that I can MAIL YOU THESE BISCUITS..
so a very nice lady did call me and I told her..I have used this brand before..and I have never had a problem..I am sending them to you...
I am too old for this kind of treatment..and I wanted biscuits and gravy for my lunch and it was ruined...along with some other words..

so nice lady said..please do not mail them...we will send you your money back..etc etc...so I told very nice lady...that's ok but if it happens again I am mailing these suckers to the company..

now my phone will take pictures etc but I don't know how to work it..I just use it for talking....I wish you could see them..I have saved one wrapped in foil to mail to my daughter so that she can take a picture and I will sent that to very nice lady at the biscuit company ....

today I made muffins...yes they are great but don't think they will work for gravy..

BISCUIT UPDATE....

just letting you know the latest from my CANNED BISCUIT failure...

a couple of days ago received a letter from the nice biscuit lady at the company....several paragraphs long...it said how nice I was ...how nice she was...and most important how nice the company was....
now here is where it gets a little ifffffffy...
enclosed was a gift cert. for 2.00....WOW...and as I thought about it...this would not even pay for the gasoline to the only store that would take it...it would not pay for the cost of baking them...it would not even near pay for my stress...
so now I did not expect them to send me lots and lots of money ..BUT...SURELY it was worth at lest a 20.00 one...
HOWEVER maybe this is all the biscuit company could afford as they are in a financial crisis....I would not want to be the cause of a collapse by accepting this 2.00...
SO I have decided to mail this back to them with a letter to the CEO letting him/her know ....I understand their lack of ability to supply my need for a reimburse that I think is fair.....
hoping this 2.00 will help them get back on their feet and become a success....

REMEMBER THIS....

last summer when it was soooo hot and we masto folks were saying....can't wait for winter...remember that....and we said...I will not complain when it gets cold....remember that....
well summer and heat is gone....and most of us have had winter like in winter...some colder that others...
mother nature is making us remember our words...
just remember that...

you need to know before you read any further.......I believe in dreams...yup I do....lots of times when I have had problems...I would dream about it and I would work out a solution in my dreams...and sometimes I have or would dream about something that might happen in my families life...understand...

well recently I had a dream about what I was doing wrong in my biscuit making...yes it came to me in a dream...and it goes like this....
I need to sift my bakery mix...now the kind I have had little bumps in it ...so the next couple of days I thought about it...and finally I was just sure that was the problem...

so I got out all the stuff and brought out my old trusty sifter..now it is one of the old kind...like my mom had...it is metal and big with a little handle that turns around...I store it in a plastic bag in my things that I do not use often...
now it really makes my arms and hands tired using this sifter..but I was just sure that I could manage...I even used COLD WATER out of the fridge...just as it was written on the package..

so now here we are with this mixture for biscuits..and you know it is looking pretty good...so I pop them into the oven..and watch..........yes they are rising up ...watching some more and gee whiz..this is going to work...and they look good..a little brown on the top and I am saying to self...you did it...you really did it...

so out of the oven and I proudly presented them to son for lunch...well there is where this wonderful story ends...even though they looked great..yes they were hard..like a puffed up hockey pucks ...

so all of you out there who have followed my biscuit making...it is over...I have lost the race...It is the end....it's over...

so there I was a sad soul...cleaning up and as I washed my old flour sifter I wanted to make sure that it was really dry before putting it away...did not want any rust spots ....so I got out the hair dryer to get down in all of those little cracks...

Oh that is the worst when the one doc who understands your condition moves away! Perhaps you can ask her to not just recommend a new doctor for you, but maybe to speak with that doc and explain how your mast cells work and what works best.

morning...I wish I could say good morning...but this has been a simple awful awful week...
as I told you my dear doctor is moving away...going to be closer to her grandchildren...I have mentioned before just how wonderful my doctor has been for me for over 25+ years...she has just a single doctor office...and a couple of employees...her nurse Barbara and Claudia who runs the desk and the office and welcomes you and answers the phone and gets you in to see the doctor no matter what.. ...doctor always listened ....
so now I have to find another doctor and in our area it is not like you folks living into the big city with lots of choices...I find that in my smaller area...you MUST APPLY...to see if a doctor will take you as a patient..I did that yesterday..I entered this office with a really big waiting room..I never felt any love or interest in me as a person...however I filled out the paper work and will now wait to see if I AM ACCEPTED..

I thought of several things...that maybe doctor would be close enough that I could just drive to her office in the new place..but that is 7 hours away..and she is not sure she will have an office...another thought that I had was I could just move as well....
all of these thoughts has certainly put me in a really bad stress area...

and if all of this was not bad enough...I have having purse trouble...now some people say...handbag...you see some of us older folks don't change purses every few days to match an outfit you wear...you find one nice one that is comfortable and matches ...kinda a fit all thing...and it has to be just right feeling to carry it when you are out and about...
well it was very apparent that something had to be done ...so now understand that I have several handbags in the closet...some that I bought that just could not fill the requirement when I got it home...now the new fanny pack is not for me...my fanny does not need added bulk...so I open the closet to see what I can find...
now here is a new one..hummm maybe it will work...it is sorta neutral..so out contents to place...all in ...and since I must return papers to doctor office out the door we go...not good.......it just does not feel right but make the trip and telling son...this purse will just not do....
back home and putting stuff back in the old one...thinking...maybe I could just go to the store and get something new...and maybe they would let me carry it around in the store for awhile just to get a feel to see if it would work...maybe they have some kind or rental ...it is just a big problem...

however I will tell you there is some good news...I have told you how BIG FAN I AM OF THE OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER basketball team...I have loudly voiced my opinions both when things were good and when they have been bad...have considered applying for a coaching job..
now a friend has invited me to go to a game next week...in person...her seats are courtside...and her parking is underground so no weather problem...and someone will meet the car with a wheelchair so no walking...and she assures me that seats are close to bathroom...however I figure if I don't drink any liquid after lunch that part will be ok...so if things go well...I am going to visit daughter and spend a week and go to a live game...I am excited..

well the sun is out...wind blowing...but just maybe some sitting on the porch later today...

Hey all you folks out there....

guess we need to talk this morning...
one of the headlines in my BIG STATE PAPER...says ...wind industry invest in state...and let me tell you something...I have lived in Oklahoma all my life and I can not remember the winds like in the past two years and especially this year...as I sit here my wind chimes are working overtime..and it is cloudy and just yucky...so if one wonders why we have the big debate in having "wind farms" in our state just look out the window..
now some of my shrubs are blooming.. you know that yellow one that blooms early...that I cannot remember the name...it is standing right out loud in my back yard...brave soul....
and the yellow finches have passed thru on the way to somewhere...so I am thinking that Spring is coming sometime...

a couple of weeks ago I was sitting on my bed...and heard this muttering sound coming from my big chest of drawers...now some might call it the bureau..anyway...I was wondering if it was safe to open the thing and see what was making noise...now since you know I don't do organize...it was a brave moment that came to me to just OPEN IT...and I did...
well I have told you about my socks...I have lots and lots of socks...but they were really in a snit..wanting their mates..well shoot..so I took my arm load to the bed and sat ...for sometime and matched them up...only came up with about 6 spare parts...HURRAH FOR ME...and as I gently laid them back in their spot...they seemed please..well mark one for me ...I must have done good...
then
I told you that I was going to visit my daughter...my plans were for a week with a trip to watch my team...Thunder play...yes I went to the visit...but I learned a lesson during the trip...I am not much good being away from home...I managed 3 days ...you see her floor is different than mine...I know when mine is going to be different..like a spot I must watch for..and even though I had my cane...and her bed is great...but it is not my bed...and her bathroom throne...well it just was not my throne...so son came to meet daughter as she brought me to the exchange spot..
now I did want to go to the ballgame but I have not been feeling well so just could not make myself take the chance of having one of those attacks right in the middle of the game..however I have an extended invitation to go back for a play-off game next month...
so...
I want you all to know....in a few days I will be 80 years old...bring out the band...shoot those fireworks...and shout...I have almost made it.....

well you read that my wonderful doctor is leaving my area and retiring...
and I told you that I had to APPLY for a new doctor...
well just wanted to let you know that I have been ACCEPTED...for a new doctor...we have a "meet and greet" appt ...she is a young doctor and the daughter of a doctor I saw loooooong ago...I am hoping for the best..
now on the application it did not ask lots of questions...like what ails you..so thinking that our first meet might really be interesting..so I am taking her the newest brochure for the Masto Society written for patients and doctors..don't want to over whelm her the first time..
crossing my fingers...wouldn't it be a hoot if she says...I know about masto..I have another masto patient...wishing

My doctor here supervises interns and residents, and she always sends them in to see me first so I can explain to them about SM and other MC disorders. I've found the new docs are very interested to learn and open to what I have to say, much more than the older ones I've seen. They don't seem threatened that they don't know anything about it, which is a good thing, in my opinion.

So I am hoping she will be open to your educating her about MC disease!

well I have a problem...maybe someone here can help....
now see...getting to the 80 yr birthday is sorta special...just making it there is an event...
now daughter wants to know what I want for my birthday...now I am not good with choices...I can handle the choice of 2 maybe but then that is hard..but giving me choices of a lot of things....
I have thought about what I should ask for...
she ask me what was in my bucket...like bucket list...now I looked and it was empty..so now I am required to think...

what to do????????
