My last post got no replies so I am hoping someone replies to this one.
So, I finally recovered from the allergy to all eating after I got a blog clot and sepsis and had 7 hospital stays...and then I got a sinus infection for which I could not take antibiotics...and then just when I thought I was finally getting better...my shoulder started hurting and kept getting worse.

So I have Avascular Necrosis from all the prednisone I had while not able to eat, it cut off the blood supply to my humerus, the ball bone in the shoulder and it died.  It is really painful, all the tissue around my shoulder and down my whole left arm and hand hurts more every day.  Typing this is painful. And I'm allergic to NSAIDs and Pain Meds so I just gotta deal with the pain.  The only treatment is a shoulder replacement.  The surgeon wants to wait to see if more of my bone dies and other joints die before he operates.  I have reacted to general anesthesia before and the PICC line I had so I don't think my body will like a foreign-body shoulder.  But I guess I will have to have the surgery at some point because the pain is already making even the smallest task very hard and I am on the verge of vomiting and passing out a few times already so if it keeps increasing I will really be incapacitated.

My questions are:
1) Has anyone had a bone replacement and how did it go?
2) Has anyone tried cannabis for pain and how did that go? (I am afraid of all herbs - the thing that made me allergic to eating for four months was an herb my doctor wanted me to try)

I'm really sorry to hear that you are experiencing all of this. Your situation is so unique, that I don't have high hopes of finding anyone here who has had a bone replacement and can share insights with you. In regard to cannabis, that is another thing that I have no knowledge about. Due to your very specific situation, the best advice I can give you is to become a patient of one of the major mast cell disease doctors so that you can get some advice that you can have confidence in.

Like you, I can't take most antibiotics, but my mast cell specialist helped me figure out one that I can take when needed. Maybe there actually is a safe one out there that you could take with the help of a knowledgeable mast cell specialist.

I apologize for the lack of activity on the forum. Sadly it depends upon me (forum owner) to keep the conversation going, and when my kids entered high school I just became too busy to do that (plus I feel better when I don't focus on mast cell symptoms). So, I will see what I can do to revitalize the forum activity - it's easy and i need is TIME (and that is always fleeting in my world of being busy mom - not that I'm complaining! I'm lucky to feel well enough to be the busy mom.)
