Gastrocom 100mg 5 mL Ampules - Where Do You Get These?
10/25/13 at 16:10:20

It is Friday.  I just saw Dr. A. and of course I forgot to ask where (what pharmacy), prepares ampules of Gastrocom, with 5 mL of liquid and 100 mg of gastrocom in each.

Please let me know where you can get these?  If no one on here knows, I will call Dr. A on Monday.

Thanks a bunch.  I am hoping this med is some benefit to me.

That's the standard formulation of Gastrocrom, a brand-name version of oral cromolyn sodium.  Any pharmacy should be able to get it.  Before I switched to compounded cromolyn sodium powder, I was using CVS.  I also checked with my local Target pharmacy... they didn't have it in stock, but said they could easily order it.  I would just ask whatever pharmacy you normally use.

For anyone interested, I am getting this medication from Clark's Pharmacy in Washington State 1-800-480-3432.  It is much cheaper.  I will have to put the powder in solution myself, in distilled water.  It is worth it if I am paying about 1/6 the price.

I use to get it at my local CVS..it was close to $300/mo for my dose (10 ampules) with my insurance. Then my doctor suggested that I try my insurance company's mail order pharmacy. He wrote the RX for 3 month refills.  I almost fell on the floor when I saw that the new total was $15.  Yes, $15 for 3 months worth of Cromolyn!!!

Do you use Caremark mail order, by any chance? I have them.

Has the Cromolyn helped you at all?  I am taking approximately 100 mg before each meal and have noticed nothing except that it has taken me along time to work up to this dose, and I get slightly dizzy and weird from it.  I have been known to get cramping intestines from this med as well.

Actually, it has become quite a nuisance.  I am not sure what to make of it.
