I take both turmeric (which contains curcumin) and green tea extract for the joint pain that I get, and I've tried stopping them for a few weeks and determined that they really do make a difference.  I just get regular old Vitamin Shoppe brand turmeric, and the green tea extract I use is MEGA brand, though I started with another brand initially in order to take a smaller dose and work up to the MEGA.
