PUVA or Narrowband UV Light Therapy
05/23/13 at 13:50:09

Hello,

My dermatologist recommended i start PUVA light therapy for my Urticaria Pigmentosa (i have also been diagnosed with TMEP through skin biopsy but i don't have typical manifestations of it according to my dermatologist). According to her the benefits are numerous and include reduction in occurrence of mast cell degranulation in the skin. Can anyone provide feedback of their personal experience with either PUVA or Narrowband? I will also try to get in touch with at least one of her other patients to get their feedback before i begin treatment (according to her, she treats many UP patients year round with PUVA).

thanks,
Kat

Hi Kat

I am on my second course of UVA1 treatment - 30 session per course. This is what is used in Europe for Mastocytosis. I don't think they use PUVA.

I had 30 UV-A treatments.  They didn't help me at all.  Now my dermatologist wants me to try UV-B treatments.  50-mile round trip to office, $15/each treatment.  No thank you.
