MRI contrast??

Hi,

I am just wondering if any of you have had an MRI with contrast dye? I know the dye is completely different and much less potent than CT dye.  I am going to have an MRI soon and wondering if I should take Benadryl before or if I would need more medication than that?  I had a CT scan a year and a half ago after I had been having issues for about 8 months.  I had a very high heart rate for 2 minutes after the injection, then was fine.  Just looking for any advice or other experiences.

Premedication before MRI gadolinium is recommended by most mast cell experts

This would usually mean the full premedication protocol

H1 h2 steroids etc. need to discuss with your doc

I had a reaction to it when I was healthy in retrospect

Not as devastating as my ct contrast reaction


But even normal people have had anaphylaxis from gadolinium its just not as widely known or as frequent

Hi,

I just wanted to let anyone else who's wondering about MRI contrast know that I had my MRI yesterday with no complications Cheesy  I took my regular antihistamines in the morning, then Zantac and 25mg Benadryl before the scan.  The dye did not bother me at all--I know it's bothered other people, but just wanted to let you know.
