We propose that intervention in LPA bioavailability or activity in the plaque may be an effective measure to reduce mast cell activation and vascular inflammation, improve plaque stability and concomitantly reduce plaque thrombogenicity, and thus could well represent an effective therapeutic strategy in the prevention of acute coronary syndromes.
