Oh the headache...
03/18/12 at 02:31:24

I'll have allergy testing tomorrow. No need to say that I need to be of H1 for at least 3 days. First day I had a headache and wheals popping out all over but they would retract soon. Day after I had stomach pain, headache and wheals. Yesterday I was dying out of that awful headache, Aspirin wouldn't help and the only thing that would help was washing my face and neck in cold water and also pouring it on my lower arms to cool off. Then I've managed to sleep a bit and felt better when I woke up. The thing is that I had low grade fever through last 7-8 days and it jumped up a bit yesterday. I could feel the heat radiating out of my body and I was sweating through my palms and armpits. Now it's day after - headache is still here, fever is again/still here and I'm starting to get pissed  Angry I've lost another weekend and I have to suffer for next 22 hours  Sad Can someone help at least with the headache? Not to mention the wheals.. Sad

Enko,
For me headaches are my constant companion and worst complaint. Tylenol can help some and is said to be OK for mast cell patients. Sometimes I resort to tylenol tension which includes caffine but not asprin.
Cold washcloth and deep breathing helps get me through the worst. Hang in there!

Excedrin with caffeine if you can take this.  Also  I've used children's suppositories because I was so sick to my stomache when I was in a bad flare.  Also ice packs on your head.

Also something like Xanax takes the edge off, but that's a prescription.

Feel better.  Let us know what shows up.

Pressure point massage can abort my migraines, sinus headaches, and other headaches.  There are spots along the web of your thumb deep  as well as along the feet.  Have someone work out any knots on your feet and then in between the toes almost in a scooping motion to get deep to the triggers points.  The big toes is a major trigger point, especially alon gthe web.   You'll know when you hit the spots, when you feel a pain or twinge that goes through your body.  The twinge is good, you want it to go allthe way through the top of your head.  And there are also spots along the ridges of your ear and along your neck and face.  For the face, follow the brown ridge. These trigger points are similar to those used in accupuncture.  This technique is called accupressure.

Best wishes, Lyn

Please try magnesium.  Many of us are deficient.  I had my first classic migraine with aura at 15.  I recommend Natural Calm powdered magnesium in Raspberry Lemon flavor.  (Only sweetener in it is Stevia.).  Available at Vitamin Shoppe, Whole Foods, etc.  You dissolve it in hot water and drink it like a tea.  It helps calm down the whole nervous system.

Sounds like you are having a histamine headache. I get those and no amount of excedrin will help. Only hitamine blockers will help mine. The specialists always say never to go off histamine blocker meds for testing. My allergist said he would never do skin testing on me because that would be dangerous since I would have to be off meds. He said that they can test all allergies and have you stay on meds through blood tests instead. I am surprised your allergist didn't suggest that. Of course, I am a shocker, so that may be the reason he was adamant only blood testing for me for allergies.

Sorry you are going through this Enko! I'm sorry I do not have any suggestions for you. I hope time fly's so you can get back on your meds.

Thank you all for your replies! They mean a lot to me!

I was tested for standard allergens and basic nutritive and environment allergens too - all clear! I was soooo happy that I could take my H1! I was so nervous about the test that I couldn't sleep.

Now I feel better, no more headache but I have awful stomach pain..

Enko;
Hope you're still doing better!
Deb had mentioned blood testing for allergies. My allergist has mentioned that too, but says they are expensive & insurance might not cover them, so you might have to check into it.
Good luck ! Smiley
