Urine results - help needed!
03/05/12 at 07:29:10

Hi all! What are your experiences on urinary tract issues and masto? I was supposed to get my urine tested as a part of GI workup. I've got the results today:

Urine: blurry
Leukocytes: 25 (ref. <10)
Proteins: 0.3 (<0.2)
Ascorbic acid: 0.2 (neg.)

Sediments:
Leukocytes: 15-20 (0-2)
Squamous epithelium: quite (0-1)
Bacteria: some

What's that, some kind of bacteria infection? I'll see my dr. tomorrow and talk to him then, but this is the first time something is wrong with my urine..  The only symptom I've had is increased urination..

What you need is a culture test which will tell you whether bacteria is definitely growing or not.  However, everything indicates that YES, youīve got some kind of urinary infection, could be upper or lower UI, because the presence of protein indicates kidneys not filtering properly.   However, that takes a nephrologist to figure out properly, Enko.

Donīt delay for this is a source for triggering.  Get any and ALL infections under control as quickly as you can!!

Hugs!!

Hey Lisa,

we've skipped the culturing and went directly to antibiotics. We'll have some results in about two weeks..

I'm not a doctor but have a lot of experience in dealing with a family member's UTIs.  Culturing is important for several reasons, but especially to find out what type of bacteria there is so it can be treated with the right antibiotic.  Skipping the culture and sensitivity (to antibiotics) can mean that you use an antibiotic that won't work on the bacteria or use one that's stronger than needed.
