Nightmares anyone ?
10/08/11 at 17:25:15

I know we all have them from time to time, but...
maybe its just a coincidence:i have been having nightmares pretty regularly since being on all the antihistamines. Also grinding my teeth like crazy at night. Its probably just the stress of dealing with this? also having more achiness than usual,& brain fog (which btw sounds nicer than brain farts) Cheesy Clumsiness n weakness too. So maybe the nightmares are one of the Least of my issues  Undecided now that i think it thru...
Just curious.

I'm having nightmares with and without the antihistamine (I'm on only one now).. They are most frequent in the morning and can be more than one in one day. Although, they are less frequent when I'm on the med.

There could be a connection with the antihistamines, yes.   There can also be a connection in the MC mediators affecting the neurological system and even the central nervous system.   You should see a neurologist.

Concerning me, my brain MRI was fine, so my neuro is not bothered by it..

But iamnotalone, Lisa is speaking wisely, you should talk to a neuro.

FYI, Singulair can cause vivid nightmares.  The medicine works for me, but the nightmares are no fun at all. I have not been formally diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Disorder, but I am new here and trying to learn more to help myself with my problems.  I am currently on several antihistamines, Singulair being one of them.

I had nightmares when I was on Allegra.  I take Singuliar now and do not have that problem.  I do experience a very dry mouth and get up at night for some water.

Yes, you are right.  Singulair is not an antihistimine.  After more thought, Xyzal was the culprit.  I quite taking it and started taking Zyrtec.

I get nightmares or very vivid, bizarre dreams from various triggers.  Chocolate and coffee/caffeine are the worst, but high doses of salicylates or strenuous exercise will also do it for me.

This is probably in line with the profile of my MCAS -- I get a lot of neurological symptoms.  For me, the nightmares seem to be a brain mast cell activation thing.

I recently switched from Ketotifen to Nalcrom (cromoyn) to see if it's better at controlling my neurological symptoms.
