antihistamine intolerance - substituting VERY low dose prednisone
02/19/15 at 08:14:24

After diagnosis in 2010 (patient of Butterfield and Castells), used quercetin and low/no histamine diet with success until 2013.  Debilitating fatigue, headaches, fecal and urinary incontinence [yada yada (endless list)] symptoms started increasing slowly on a regular basis in 2013 leading up to a 2014 of added asthma symptoms, wheeze, inability to catch breath, upper respiratory infections and 4 rounds of prednisone and antibiotics.  Prednisone worked!  Incontinences, brain fog, headaches, fatigue, etc improved.  Three days after completing prednisone treatment symptoms would start again.  I am working with local allergist/immunologist on a very low dose prednisone (2.5 - 7.5mg TOTAL/DAY, divided (am/pm), depending on symptoms) regimen.  I am unable to take ANY antihistamines, mast cell stabilizers or other specific anti-inflammatory meds due to side effects.  Refused Xolair (cardiac disease in family).
***Has anyone else used this strategy?***

Hi Vickie, I am taking 2.5 mg prednisone daily and it has helped.  I still take other drugs too, but this has been what has helped the most out of anything.  I worry about side effects that are unseen. I tried zolair but had a reaction. This is a late response but hope you are feeling better. Smiley
