neuropathy
05/07/14 at 04:08:11

I am new to the forum.  My symptoms have been rather strange as my GP has had no idea.  Dr. Ahern thinks is a mast cell issue.  Chronic sinus congestion, body tingling, and pelvic pain.  The most recent issue is my small fiber neuropathy biopsy came back positive.  Does anyone else hav neuropathy issues?  I am confused.  They can't find any other condition to explain the neuropathy.  Any ideas from the forum?

I would say to see a specialist in mast cell disorders.  They have the most knowledge of what symptoms and conditions might be related to mast cell problems, and they can sort out complicated sets of symptoms.

There may be a doctor near you, so check the topic "Mast Cell Disorder Doctors".  If you can't find one there, post again and ask if anyone knows a mast cell expert in your area.

Hope you find a knowledgeable doctor who can help!

Hi Latte,
Yes, neuropathy is one feature of this disorder BUT it is also a feature of other disorders, like; Sjogrens Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Diabetes to name just a few. The expert Dr in Mast Disorders in the US is Dr Castells and I have read that she asks prospective patients if taking an antihistamine makes a positive difference or not. If it does, she says to follow through with getting a diagnosis and treatment for it. Hope this helps!
Hugs,
Ramona

i have symptoms that are like neuropathy but cause is not nerves dieing but skin is so sensitive especially my feet & arms. my doc seems to think those are more a fibro issue than a masto issue.in other words he doesn't have a  clue. the problem that i have is drugs for fibro cause my masto issues, so stuck with using tramadol & tylonal for pain, not a lot of help that's for sure.

I had neuropathy in my leg from gluten and diary triggers.  Once I gave both up, my neuropathy cleared up.  After having given them up for a couple years, I ate them again (each on one, separate occasion) and got terrible tingling in my left leg for the next 48 hours.  Very strange!
