Serious about stress
04/21/14 at 14:56:35

Hey everyone!

I haven't posted anything about myself in a while, but here's an exciting update: after making some serious changes in my life to reduce STRESS (one of my major triggers)... I've been able to stop one of my medications and reduce two others.

I am so excited  Cool

I'm certainly not "cured" (there is no cure), but after five years of figuring out my triggers and working diligently to get this thing under control, this is the first time I've been able to reduce my medications without a flare-up.  Even my allergist was surprised.

I could not have imagined this five years ago!!!!!!  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Heather,
What exciting news! I'm very happy for you. What a joy this must be!!!
And, dare I ask, what types of changes did you make? Were they something that would apply as "general" or were they specific to your day/lifestyle etc?

The biggest source of stress in my life is my husband.  He has some kind of mental health issue going on, but unfortunately he refuses to get help.  After trying many, many things to improve the situation over the last few years (we've been married for 17), in November the kids and I moved out of the house and into an apartment of our own.

You know how it's one thing to be aware of what's stressing you out, but another to do something about it?  Well I finally made the tough choice and did something about it.  I'm honestly amazed what a positive impact this has had on my health.

Congratulations Heather!  That is such good news.  We all think about the stressful things we can change in our lives, but never do.  It's great that you did that and that you are feeling well enough to cut out some meds.  I hope you continue to feel better, so you can take less and less medication.  Good luck on your new journey Smiley Sarah

Heather,

What great news!  Sorry about your husband's situation, but so happy that you are able to take care of yourself and your kids well enough to feel better.

Stress is my biggest trigger, too.

One more exciting update...

In April I had my annual physical.  I just got the results yesterday (my 80+ year-old doctor is having some health problems of his own) and I was stunned to see that EVERY SINGLE ONE of my labs was back to normal.  Liver enzymes, lipids, CBC... absolutely perfect.  If I needed any more confirmation that I made the right choice to reduce stress and improve my physical/mental health, this was it.

Just want to say, I am SO PROUD of you, Heather! That was a hard decision to make and even harder to carry thru with it, i.e. finances and kids. I'm so happy you are finding positive results!
Much love,
Ramona
