Introduction

Hi, My name is Jill.  I have not been diagnosed yet, but for the last 2yrs I have had numerous anaphylaxis episodes. My Dr sent me to a "great" allergy specialist. That was a trip to the ER from the Allergy clinic by ambulance. The day before my birthday, my expense of course. I have had allergies and asthma all my life. I was also diagnosed with arthritis at 10yrs of age. I also have a huge list of meds I have anaphylaxis reactions to. At 40 I was no longer able to take any NSAIDs or pain meds due to reactions. The allergy Dr that started with basic testing because he wouldn't believe that I new what I was allergic to and the testing I had done as a 10yr old was irrelevant to him. The tree & grass test (that I knew I was allegic to, turned into an awful experience.  My back & arms were a huge welt that felt like my skin had been removed. I had a bitter taste in my moth in a matter of seconds. This Dr doesn't believe in benadryl, after 3ephi shots he finally let the nurse give me liquid benadryl. Thank God the ems had a procedure of benadryl and epi to follow on the way to the ER. The ER Dr also followed with that same & steroids. Of course every time I am given steroids I wind up with shingles. So I started Valtrex asap at home & continued benadryl until the lump in the sides of my mouth were gone. The allergist stamped my charts high risk and said he couldn't help me. Ha, no kidding!
I ran into this sote when I had anaphylaxis from nutmeg and googled allergy to nutmeg. They listed all the meds a person would react to if the reacted to nutmeg and other food to avoid, all that I have a problem with. It suggested that it was most likely a histMine problem. I had never heard of that nor had a Dr ever suggested that to me. So I googled that and found your site. I emailed my Dr and he wants me to make an appt. I have not yet but I will, this is so amazing to me and all the info has been quite an eye opener. Thank you for spending so much time to share and try to help others. Sincerely, Jill
