Tremors..tics..after injections??

Hi! I have been at a loss with my many allergy issues since childhood. I always just thought it was just my weird reactions! WOW.... I have been reading all these posts and I'm not so crazy. There might be a true cause for my geographical tongue, skin rashes/flushing, immediate headaches with certain foods/seasonings, fatigue, muscle/bone pain, anemia, the list goes on!! Ok, this is what has lead me to all you wonderful people. The past year whenever I have anything injected my body goes into a full blown tremor with in a couple seconds. Flushing in my chest, ears, and cheeks, elevated heart rate, and tics. If I take benedryl around the clock the tremors go away and I am left with a head/neck/arms tic and elevated blood pressure for about two days until whatever it was works it's way out!  It can be normal saline flush, epi, lidocaine, flu shot, and my body reacts. This last time I went immediately to an allergist while it was happening. Labs showed ana positive and high sed rate, so he sent me for more lupus testing which came back neg.  I'm almost positive after reading all your stories mast cell is something I need to look at. I'm headed for a brain MRI in an hour and freaking out about the IV and contrast!! Has anyone had this before(tremors tics with injections?) thank you all for coming on this forum and posting your struggles. Believe it or not you help others who haven't a clue!!

Hi. When I am headed into anaphylactic shock, I get the full body tremors where I cannot control the shaking at all. Generally my emergency meds, such as additional antihistamines and even prednisone, will calm it down.

People with mast cell problems all react to different things although there do seem to be some common triggers. Shellfish is one of them, which is found in the iodine of contrast that is used. I have never had contrast with tests since I was diagnosed because I was too worried about going into shock. However if I had to have it, there are precautionary meds that are used 24 hours in advance and up to and during the procedure. I don't know what to tell you about your MRI. Do you have to have it with contrast? I had an MRI of my brain once and the specialist said it would be fine to do it without the contrast. If I had to have contrast, I would have to premedicate with the directed antihistamines etc first and have emergency meds there like epinephrine if needed.

Thank you for posting! I premedicated with 50mg prednisone at 13, 7, and 1 hour before MRI. Also took 50 mg if benedryl at 1 hour before. Let me just say my MRI was at 3:45 an I was just released. Good news I guess is first saline boules flushed with no issues. Second, I felt heart start to race and shaking inside. Contrast was then pushed and same thing over again! Legs start flipping uncontrollably, then whole body was at it. This time it lasted just a few minutes and the tic started. So, as I said, good news premedicating helps the tremor stay at minimum. I need to find a doctor in Atlanta that can help me!
