I have been ill for 4 years and have an appt. to see Dr. Afrin, hoping for a diagnosis. 4 years ago I had severe sore throats and swallowing issues. It went away and came back a few months ago only the sore throats came back with a burning tongue with swollen membranes (according to the ENT). Tongue issues seeem to have subsided some, but the sore throats also came on with itchy ears that now alternate between itching and hurting. It drives me nuts! Has anyone else had these symptoms, especially the itching/hurting ears?What has worked for you?

I always have had the sore throat symptom.  It is GERD.  Never knew I had it but went to the Ear,Nose,Throat specialist as one of the earlier docs I saw for mast cell issues and when he scoped me, said I had GERD.

I use Nasol Crom nose spray every morning and take Zantac 75 mg. 2 or 3 times a day.  I'm allergic to dyes so check ingredients.  I couldn't figure out why one day I'ld feel okay from Walgreen's brand Zantac and the next it bothered me.  When I went from 75 mg. to 150 mg. the ingredients changed.

I used to use Advil constantly for the sore throats and this is awful for mast cell degranulation.

Sore throats are a thing of the past.  Also no tomatoes or soda.
It really stinks to have to watch what you eat.

I have used different brands of quercetin. Now I am using 333mg 2x/day of quercetin from Omnivite Nutrition,Inc. I got it from my Naturopath and it really has worked for the flushing for me. It has not worked for the ear itch/pain, or throat itching.
It's worth a try for the flushing.
