Anyone out there on Actonel (Residronate) to treat low bone density? Interested to see how you're reacting.

I have to start it, but I just read that it's been linked to mandibular necrosis in patients with pre-existing jawbone injuries. I've got dental implants, so I think that counts as a pre-existing injury. Seems I've to make a choice between my lower spine crumbling to dust or having my jaw rot away. Peachy.

You might want to get a second opinion on treatment from a bone metabolism specialist.

Thanks, Joan. I plan on checking with one. From everything I've read so far, it seems to only be an issue with long-term use, so I'm safe for now. I'm going to check on Forteo, but I don't like the idea of self-administering shots. The other ones, calcitonin and prolia, look like they're only for women. We'll see.
