Hello,

Just wondering if any of you take Benedryl when you have an mast cell attack, and if you are already taking other antihistamines?  Just wondering what you have been advised on taking Benedryl on top of other antihistamines?

YES.  On a daily basis I take 20mg of Claritin, 20mg of Zyrtec, and 600mg of Zantac.  I've had no problems using 50mg doses of liquid Benadryl on top of that.  My allergist doesn't have a problem with it either.  Fortunately, it doesn't make me drowsy!

We have found this very useful when my husband starts to get reactive, nauseated, gassy or feels like something's not right. We add 50mg of benadryl and it really helps get rid of the symptoms, fortunately  he  doesn't get tired either.

I don't have a diagnosis yet, but my doctors are OK with what I take. I am on:

2-3 10mg tabs Zyrtec daily
600-900 mg Zantac daily
6 mg ketotifen daily

I use Benedryl whenever I have an acute reaction, especially if it has to do with my throat, but it also helps stomach issues. I take 1-2 25 mg tabs of benedryl at a time.
