Cholesterol and MCAD

Hi Everyone ,

My cholesterol has been high for a while . It went off the scale yesterday and I am awaiting a second lot of blood test results and may need to go to hospital today as it is very very high . total 24 . triglycerides 75 , yes you read correctly .

There is a connection emerging in literature between mast cell tryptase and cholesterol balance .  It has been found that tryptase , stops cells processing HDL . Leaving more in the circulation .

Reference :-
(Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol. 2002 Dec 1;22(12):2086-91.
Mast cell tryptase degrades HDL and blocks its function as an acceptor of cellular cholesterol.

There has also been a literature review , which concluded that mast cell disease is a risk factor for high cholesterol .

It has been known for a while that LDL degranualtes mast cells .

Mastocytosis is known to have high cholesterol as a symptom , but until now the cause has not been identified .

My immunology team do not want me to have stains , which are a common cholesterol treatment . Fibreates are another group. But i reacted to the capsules and corn flour .

I am diabetic , so my cholesterol is likely to be due to high sugars , which I need more insulin for , but I have been waiting for a specialist appointment , which is due next month .

But we are going into a bank holiday here , so hospital is always looming . I haven't spent a bank holiday at home in 2 years .

If I go quiet then , you know I have gone in .

many hugs all

Josie
