(Archived from jysmith - original forum) jysmith Hi Schatzi,
I'm also in Colorado. There is a doctor, Richard Weber, at National Jewish who has a good reputation among mast cell disorder patients. (It's an out-patient facility, and they have departments for allergy & immunology, respiratory problems, rheumatology, and others.) I can't say I can recommend any other docs there, as I had a bad experience with a Fellow who didn't know enough about mast cell problems, and I don't know any of the other docs. At CU Medical Center in Denver, there is a doctor named Stephen Dreskin, who I've seen and who treats mast cell disorder patients. It takes a while to get a first appointment, but he seems good at managing medicines and symptoms.
Sadly, the only hematologist who treated mast cell disorders at CU Med Ctr. died a few months ago. Hoping he'll be replaced at some point with someone who knows something about mast cells.
There's no one here who is like Dr. Akin or Castells or some of the other mast cell experts, but either of the doctors I mentioned can consult with Brigham & Womens to keep on top of a treatment plan for you.
Hope that's helpful, Schatzi! BTW, there's a mast cell disorders support group for northern Colorado. If you look on the TMSforacure website, they have the contact information.
