As a last desperate attempt to find a doctor in the Southeast, I sent an email to Dr. Afrin's assistant. Her email is made public, so I figured it was worth a shot. I was pleasantly surprised that she responded the next business day. I was pleasantly shocked that Dr. Afrin personally responded shortly after I received her email.

His recommendations included Dr. Theodore Lee at Peachtree Allergy & Asthma in Atlanta, GA. I was quickly able to schedule an appointment for a few weeks out. My previous tests/results were requested to be sent in advance. After looking them over, Dr. Lee ordered more tests (leukotriene, prostaglandin, chromogranin A, kit D816, chronic urticaria...). These are tests that I've requested from 2 other allergists and they wouldn't order them. Dr. Lee did it even before I've actually seen him. I'm cautiously excited. I'm hoping test results will be available by next week when my appointment is scheduled. He's about 3 hours away, so it would be nice for everything to be in place.

I hope this information can help anyone else that feels like they're in a "deadzone" when it comes to MCAS specialist! ;)

Dr. Lee gave me the dx of MCAS just based on clinical history. All test results were normal. He said it's a "mild form" of MCAS and only recommend I continue with the H1/H2 treatment.

That was very disappointing news to me. I've been on this treatment for a year and not all of my ongoing symptoms are under control. I was really hoping for him to offer further treatment. It made me wonder just how severe the symptoms have to be before considering further treatment.

During the appointment, Dr. Lee mentioned the possibility of Cymbalta for the pain. My GP was willing to prescribe it. I've started a low dose and will gradually increase.
