Title: Adhesive Sensitivities - 3M Blenderm working great!
Post by Ladybug on 02/23/14 at 09:37:32

I am allergic to tape adhesive, which leaves me with painful redness and raw and open areas.

My dermatologist's office used tape instead of band-aids earlier this week after a few biopsies, but I still broke out. I went to a pharmacy and purchased tape for sensitive skin. I still broke out.

I needed a way to keep the gauze covered over my biopsied skin area located in my front upper torso and center back. I went to my allergist's office and showed them my rash and raw skin. They gave me a roll of clear 3M BLENDERM tape. This stuff is amazing! No new rash or skin being torn to rawness.  [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

This may be helpful to some of you to try!

I'm also allergic to most adhesives, but "tegaderm" works for me.  As a bonus, it's waterproof and really promotes healing :)

Thanks for the tip!

Heather

Awesome, Heather, I will also check this out. The more options we can get listed, the better.

Where do you buy Blenderm or Tegaderm?  I get little blistery bumps from all adhesives I've tried so far….

Hi Joan,

Our compounding pharmacy said that they would order it for me. Also, I found it online at:  http://www.3m.com/product/information/Blenderm-Surgical-Tape.html I would imagine you could also find Tegaderm the same way. I wrote to 3M on their website asking them about another product. They also make Nexcare, which I am allergic to. They obviously have several adhesive formulas that they use. I need to find out what additional products they sell that use the same adhesive as the Blenderm. Happy hunting!

I ordered tegaderm patches from Amazon.  I had surgery last year and used something very similar (bioclusive?), but I couldn't find a place to buy it as a normal consumer.

Heather

EDIT: It is "bioclusive" and Amazon has it now... it's just more expensive than tegaderm.
