Title: Baking powder
Post by lynda51 on 03/09/13 at 15:18:39

Is anyone aware of a baking powder brand without cornstarch?  I thought I had found one on amazon but can no longer find it.  I have made my own with baking soda and cream of tartar but I still seem to have trouble with it.

Also, I am asking for a small miracle but does anyone know of one that may be aluminum free as well???

Thanks!

Rumford and Bob's Red Mill make aluminum-free baking powder, but they do contains cornstarch.  Hain's Featherweight Baking Powder is made with potato starch and no cream of tartar, but it does contain monocalcium phosphate.  More info can be Googled, including several different recipes for baking powders that don't contain unwanted ingredients.

There's an organic one here in Canada without cornstarch but that's probably no help to you!
