Title: Opposite of fatigue
Post by angelloz on 02/14/13 at 00:51:48

Hello all,
Really need some help with this. I have the exact opposite of sleepiness and NEVER feel tired. When I was healthy I would feel sleepy each evening. There are days I can't be upright due to BP , breathing etc, but although my body can fell weak I  do feel sleepy. It was one of my earliest symptoms along with head pressure and breathing trouble and weight loss. Lost more weight lately No to hypothyroid, pheo. No doctor has an answer. Maybe I should call Dr. Castells about this. Does anyone else have this issue at all??? It's not like insomnia, it's like being revved up all the time. Take a bit of ativan but don't want to take this too much.

Whoops meant to say I do NOT feel sleepy. Even things that used to make me sleepy do not, like benedryl.

Hi Angelloz.,

I am like this a lot.  Since you mentioned not being able to be upright for periods of time, do you have POTS or another autonomic disorder? I have a diagnosis of dysautonomia and one mast cell specialist is sure I have POTS.  I am not as well versed in the autonomic part of my diagnosis, but I know some forms cause us to be in "overdrive" a lot!!

I know I have read somewhere ( don't quote me on this), that some of us can produce extra epinephrine to kind of " protect" ourselves because of our mast cell sensitivities...after all, what do we take when we are in trouble??? Right..Epi!!  I don't know if there is any scientific info to back this up or just a possible theory.

With that being said,  I saw an endocrinologist because my Epi level is always around 550..normal being 0-110. My endo did an adrenal work-up just to be sure. You may at least want to ask your doc about a chatacholamine test.

Hope this helps....keep us posted.  Hugs, Lynda

Thank you so much for your reply. I am wanting to try a different H1 because Claritin revs me up even more. I do have elevated norepinephrine.
I have been diagnosed with autonomic dysfunction and MCAD. Right now I am at KU Med trying to see if I can get help with the weight loss and constant hyper feeling. I will let you all know if I discover anything useful :)
