Title: Round vs Linear Hives
Post by Sweet Tea on 07/06/12 at 08:27:14

My allergist asked me which one I have most often when I react. Has anyone ever been asked that question? What would it mean, one vs the other?

Cindi;
I'm not sure-never been asked that one, but then my dr.s saw mine in person. I suggest you do like some of us, and take a couple pictures to show your allergist. I've given mine a whole "portfolio" ::) to share with other docs. You can even use your cell phone-makes it easier.

I've never been asked that either... but linear hives are from abrasion (dermatographism).  Other kinds of reactions produce "round" hives, which look splotchy when you have so many they start to combine.

What difference does it make??  I have no idea.  I get both.

That makes a lot of sense - linear and abrasions. So do I guess stress may cause round ones.

Thanks!!
