Title: LAB lost 24 hr. methyhistamine sample
Post by PJP123 on 02/17/12 at 04:37:54

Lab lost my 24-hour methylhistamine sample.  Can you tell me how you lose a gallon of pee?  I was waiting for this so I could forward results to Dr. Castells for her to review and see if she will see me.  I'm so p-----d.  I don't feel like repeating this.  My 2nd tryptase was 6.2.  1st was 6.  I'm going to send results that I do have.  I received a Brigham Women's Hospital account number so far.

I am soooo sorry PJ.  I totally understand what you are feeling right now!!!

When I went to SC to see my specialist, Fed Ex lost ALL my labs that were done there including the methyhistamine....I had taken a taxi to a drug store ($18.00), bought a cooler (which I couldn't even bring back on the plane with me), bought ice packs that the motel so kindly keep frozen and alternated for me!!  Not to mention being stuck in the motel room all day!

And then, I didn't find out until after I got home that they had been lost. Of course.....it took an Act of God to get them all redone in Wisconsin where I live.   They don't "get"  the mast cell activation disorder stuff here......sometimes it's just plain hard to get out of bed in the morning, isn't it??

On the "flip" side of it all, ;)  it WILL be done correctly in Boston and Dr. Castells (I have heard), is amazing.  I know it will all work out even though it seems to be an overwhelming challenge for you right now.  Hang in there!! It is worth it!

I will keep you in my thoughts and hope you are able to get to Boston soon and get the help you need.   Hugs to you, Lynda

Thanks Lynda.  Your story is way worse than mine so I feel better already.  I'm glad you mentioned how hard it is to get out of bed.  I feel  like that every single day of my life.  I'm medicated now with what I could get from allergist and over the counter but still will never feel like a normal person.  I just went to the mall and it was overwhelming.  I felt like the place was spinning and it was all surreal.  I'm back home and all I want to do is go to bed, but have 4 kids coming home from school.  TGIF!

I can SO sympathize.... I've been waiting a week and a half for my 24-hour urine test results, and I'm so worried that they lost them, left them unrefrigerated/frozen, processed them wrong, who knows what.  And goodness knows you don't want to go through the whole process AGAIN.   :P
