Title: n,ew word for venting...
Post by iamnotalone on 12/17/11 at 03:25:05

I've come up with a new word;
"Masto Psychosis". Its when our inner two year old comes out and vents at our our nearest and dearest !!!  >:(
Unfortunately, there is no cure for this one either. All ya can do is treat it with profuse apologies, n try to avoid your triggers. :-[
workin on it,
lori

I had a very bad "Masto Psychosis" 2 years ago.  It was my 4th child's (only daughter's communion day) and my backyard neighbor had gardeners taking out bushes that they had put in a few months before and then put 5 pear trees down a 4' wide strip of land right along the side of my garage. along my backyard/property line (their mature size is 12 - 15' wide).  They were using a small backhoe because the trees were 2 stories high.  They worked from 8 in the morning til 5 PM.  I marched over at 5pm when my body could not handle the noise, stress of having a communion party anymore and told them off.  Bad words and all.  If anyone could ever understand how truly awful we can feel.  Spring/Summer is the worst for me.

Oh how quick our tongues get with this disease!!   We get so easily irritated and our nerves literally are right on the very edge of our skin and that skin is pretty thin if you ask me!!!

However, there is a point where we've got to ask, IS IT WORTH IT??

Like it or not, if we concentrate our thoughts on what is making us feel so irritated and sensitive, we only become more so.  And yet, does that blasting really resolve our own situation?  Yes, it is the escape valve on the pressure cooker, but that release is costly and can end up sending you over the edge into an attack!  The process of blasting somebody, no matter how justified you may feel you are, is very costly and it's going to cause some kind of mediator release and triggering!!

An example - an orgasm causes histamine release, so in order to have one, you've got to get those mediators going to trigger the cells where you have histamine stored and that histamine release is going to overload your system!

Do you see the connection?   The stored up irritation already is going to trigger your stress system which is going to trigger your MCs.  But anger is a very strong emotion and it will also trigger that very same system so in a burst of anger you're going to end up having everything whiplash back on top of you!!

It's just NOT worth it, even though you may feel justified and even emotionally relieved, it's still too costly.   It would be far healthier to find some other means of releasing the pressure way before it gets to that point for then you've got other feelings to deal with afterwards if you totally lost your cool.

Try to KEEP COOL gang, it's best in the long run.   Most things in life, if you look back at them, are really worth going through anaphylaxis for it. 8-)

LISA;
L.O.L.  ;D We can always count on you to tell it like it is girl !!!
I've often wondered, but was afraid to ask about you know whats...
Had a HORRIFIC pain in my head a few months back, but forgot to ask my GP-who's a woman, if it was masto-related. Thanks to you, now I know. WELL; I'm not going to give Them up ;) Havent experienced a "not tonite dear, I'll HAVE a headache" since, but will proceed with caution. Nope, think I"ll hold off that steam from the neighbors & other such irritants... :) That's something I can live without.

Dr. Castells told me that for patients who have issues with sex that they should take one allegra 180mg about 30 minutes prior in order to help keep from reacting.

My gyno really LOVED that advice!!   He called it the masto patient's Viagra! ;D

Lisa;
Remind me not to eat soup when Im reading your replies !!! ;D
Too funny! Guess I won't be the only 49 yr. old with a hysterectomy-
who's still "on the pill" !!! :D
Seriously tho- GREAT advice Lisa! We can give up foods, scents, et.etc.,
but when it comes to marriage, this disease better back off. >:(
Lets hope it respects our space  ;),
