I am going to have the urine test for methlhistamines. I am taking Claritin right now. Do I need to go off the Claritin first? For how long?

No. The researchers/specialists tells us to NEVER go off our meds for testing. The results will not be affected.

Thanks! I'm glad I asked. I assumed I needed to go off of it because when I went for allergy testing, the dr. said to go off all antihistimines for 2 weeks before. I'll admit, I wasn't looking forward to doing without the Claritin.

Oh gosh. You might want to find a more knowledgeable allergist. It can be very dangerous to do allergy testing without your meds! Yikes! That could possibly KILL me! (I have Idiopathic Anaphylaxis).

I had this test and stayed on my claritin, went just fine.
