Title: Read before you start a new medicine
Post by Joan on 02/24/11 at 17:20:26

It's so important for all of us to remember to do our own research and to consult our pharmacists and/or doctors when considering trying a new medicine or supplement.  Drug interactions can cause more problems than we already have!

I think most of us have been in that place where we're desperate for relief and will consider trying almost anything.  It's so easy to forget that we need to check ingredients and interactions so we don't put ourselves in a really unpleasant (or deadly) position.

Ultimately, we have to educate ourselves and take others' advice or follow what someone else is doing only after checking it out thoroughly.

And, for those who are new, always try new medicines when you can have someone nearby for a few hours, in case you have a reaction,  and if you're close to a hospital with an ER or an ambulance service.  Finally, keep at least 2 epipens with you at all times.  Even leakers can turn into shockers if they are exposed to certain triggers.

GREAT advice... and remember to try new meds in the morning, since histamine levels are naturally highest between 2 and 3 am.
