Title: Elevated prostagladin 2
Post by Maiysa on 05/30/12 at 09:34:04

The nurse called today-and the only thing that showed up was an elevated urine prostagladin f2.  It was at 1240, they said the reference for normal was 1,000.  Anyhow, not sure what that means.  They are putting me on antihistamines and that's about it for now.  They said that they would see me in two months or so for a follow up.  The b-tryptase is not back yet, so still waiting on that. But the total tryptase have come out between 11-12 again.  This is the third time I believe.  But they never said what I had or gave me a diagnosis.  Still the same old, we will keep an eye on you.  I guess that's better than saying come in for a BMB.  :)  But am still in the dark.
Thanks for listening.

Both histamine and prostaglandins are inflammatory markers.  This is a link to a discussion of tryptase tests:

Thank you Joan.  That is a great site for information on the tryptase.  It makes more sense to me.  And the doctor did say I am full of inflammation, so those being inflammatory markers makes sense.  Also had an elevated compliment test-CH50.

I was able to find in an article that the elevated test I had of beta prostaglandin f2 alpha is just a metabolite of Prostaglandin D2. So that mystery is solved.  Thanks again for your help.
Sincerely,
Maiysa
